His Excellency Shri R.N. Ravi, the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu visited MITCAT
The MIT community was privileged to welcome His Excellency Thiru. R.N. Ravi, the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, to our campus on January 11, 2025, for a special Pongal celebration honoring farmers implementing natural farming techniques as advocated by Dr. Nammalvar. Arriving at 11:30 AM, the Governor received a warm welcome and was presented with a Parivattam by Er. E. Praveen Kumar, Vice Chairman of MIT Educational Institutions.
During the celebrations, the Governor inaugurated the festivities alongside students, faculty, and farmers, enjoying traditional folk performances by students and artists. He also visited the Goshala to perform GoPooja and explored various demonstration units on the farm.
Later, the Governor visited Spectra, where a large assembly of farmers gathered for a discourse on Natural Farming, as encouraged by Dr. Nammalvar. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. A.P. Karuppiah, Chairman of the Confederation of Farmer Producer Companies of Tamil Nadu. Notable speakers included Dr. K. Ramasamy, Former Vice Chancellor of TNAU; Mr. Prasanna Mohan, Managing Director of Shywin Biotech, Kumbakonam and Dr. V. Vijayaganapathi, Managing Director of Rom Vijay Biotech, Puducherry, who shared insights into Dr. Nammalvar’s significant contributions to society. In his closing remarks, the Hon’ble Governor delivered a powerful speech highlighting Dr. Nammalvar’s positive impact on the farming community. He presented awards to innovative organic farmers from various regions of the state.
Later, he toured the various exhibition stalls set up by different Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and students, engaging in discussions about the array of natural products on display. During the celebrations, the First Lady of Tamil Nadu, Tmt. Laxmi Ravi, eagerly accompanied the Hon’ble Governor, interacting with both students and farmers throughout the festivities. The event was organized meticulously and successfully under the leadership of Principal Dr. T. Raguchander supported by staff.
